5-and-0! Congratulations Willow Oaks!

You guys did it! You finished 5-and-0! You've come a long way since 2022 when we completed our first season 1-5... Now look at you. 48.83% of the team has now qualified for City Meet. And, if every qualified swimmer would have been able to participate, we would have shown up at City Meet with 42 swimmers -- the second largest team (right behind Marlbank) this year. That said, the 39 athletes we are bringing in 87 events still puts us as the 3rd largest team attending City Meet:

  1. Marlbank Mudtoads (44 athletes - 106 Entries) - 115 person Roster
  2. Windy Point Piranhas (41 Athletes - 98 Entries) - 89 person Roster
  3. Willow Oaks (39 Athletes - 87 Entries -- all total 43 and 95 Entries) - 83 person Roster
  4. Hidenwood (37 Athletes - 89 Entries) - 93 person Roster
  5. Colony (37 Athletes - 88 Entries) - 76 person Roster
  6. Poquoson (36 Athletes - 86 Entries) - 119 person Roster

Look at that -- the lone "White" team in a sea of "Red" -- Hard Work Works!

As I said year 1 - winning summer league meets isn't necessarily about how many "Club Swimmers" you have, it's about the efforts you make in practice, and it's about the efforts the coaches put into coaching each swimmer. A team becomes strong, because we work together to achieve goals. Each year, we work at getting better. Better technique, better practice habits, faster racing - and being great teammates. That's what makes you a great team.

The proof isn't just in how many kids on our team are making City Meet -- but can also be found in the personal bests raced meet after meet. I've attached the 74 personal bests achieved today so you can celebrate each and every accomplishment. The best part is that every swimmer that started with us this year and finished the season completed at least one full race independently by the end of the season.

Next Week - City Meet Practice

Pool Set Up is 7:15 (need everyone to help)

We need 4 blocks, lane lines and both sets of flags.

9 and overs practicing from 7:30-8:45

8&U will practice from 8:45-9:45

I am hoping to have Friday's practice at HVA during this same time period, so you can get experience with the blocks, step-over starts and know what to expect Saturday morning.
