Practice Plans & Updates!
Monday, June 24th is our meet against Wendwood (it's also senior night) -- the weather currently doesn't look great for morning practice -- if we are having thunderstorms when you wake up, stay in bed and rest up.
Tuesday, June 25th will be a fun day -- pool gets put away before the fun can start.
We won't have another swim meet until July 8th against Glendale. So, we are going to back up and go to some stroke fundamentals to prepare for the final three meets.
- Wednesday, June 26th -- we will be practicing lots and lots of turns! Backstroke flip turns, breast-to-back turns, freestyle flip turns, and open turns!
- Thursday, June 27th -- get ready for our freestyle intensive
- Friday, June 28th -- will be our backstroke intensive
Due to many planned vacations, we do not have normal practices the week of the 4th. However, I'd like to bring back "clinic days" Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday (we will actually start some of the clinic work during practice this week).
- Monday will be Breaststroke
- Tuesday will be Starts & Turns
- Wednesday will be Butterfly
Practice these days will run on a slightly altered schedule:
- Practice #1 (Intermediate & Advanced): 7:45-8:45am
- Practice #2 (Beginner) 8:45-9:45am
Swimmers who are legal in strokes or dive certified will attend the intermediate & Advanced practice ... and swimmers who are not legal in a stroke or dive certified will go to the beginner practice.
There will be no formal practice Thursday, July 4th or Friday July 5th
But, don't forget -- we do have a meet against Glendale on Monday, July 8th!
We have qualified 29 swimmers for City Meet this year -- 13 of those have qualified for the first time! And, we have 19 more nearly ready to join the ranks -- and still more making incredible improvements with time to reach that goal.
Let's keep working to make this the best season in Willow Oaks history!
