I'm excited to announce the formation of a new USAS Club Team based out of the Hampton, Virginia Aquaplex called the Hampton Virginia Current.

The Current will be "making waves from ripples to tsunamis" -- and aims to redefine club swimming in the Hampton Roads Area -- supporting dual athletes, flexible scheduling, and high-quality coaching, regardless of personal goals. We will strive to meet the athletes where they are, and improve upon their strengths while building up their weaknesses. As a part of this mission, we will be following the American Development Model. This means, our swim team will not merely focus on yards swum, but also on improving stroke competence, developing character, instructing about nutrition, and developing the mental attitudes and habits necessary for success in and out of the pool.

We are set to formally begin practices after Labor Day -- although middle school and high school year-round swimmers will have an opportunity to practice and start "warming up" those swim muscles in late August.

I expect to have more finalized information on the schedule and pricing by the end of the week -- and am working quickly to get the website up and running.

I have signed on as the head coach -- and you may very well see other familiar faces on our pool deck. Lastly, if you share a passion for coaching, have a desire to improve your swim knowledge, and help swimmers become their very best -- or you know of a strong coach who you feel meets our philosophical ideas -- please let me know.
