Coaching your children...

Don't be afraid of this email. While many coaches frown intensely on parents "coaching" their kids, generally speaking, I'm not one of those.

Frankly, I believe parents and coaches working together can create an incredible opportunity to help children learn. The hardest parts are (a) learning how to approach teaching your child, based upon where they are skill-wise and (b) turning coach "off" and mom/dad "on" to provide the important encouragement and support pre/post race without extra commentary "coach" may want very badly to give.

If you are interested in helping your child improve their strokes (whether in August, or at the Y or the Aquaplex -- when it opens), for whatever reason -- I'm happy to help you develop a teaching/training plan to help you support your children.

Similarly, during the season, if you want to work with your children on specific things, I'm happy to work through that as well.

I know this season isn't finished -- but I am already looking toward next year. I am so excited to see how next season is already shaping up! One thing is for certain ... no one will underestimate Willow Oaks next summer! Your kids have made sure of that!
