Stingrays Update 06.21.22

First -- well-done everyone at the intrasquad. We weren't without a few hiccups, but things went really well all the way around. Thank you parents for volunteering -- kids for providing the entertainment -- and everyone for working together to pull this off.

Please note the changes to the practice schedule (I had some times off ... oldest kids weren't getting enough time, youngest kids doing way too much). The new schedule gives the younger swimmers an extra 15 minutes of sleep, and the older swimmers an extra 15 minutes to swim. These changes will be posted on the website as well.

Next, Shout Outs to many of our swimmers for punching their ticket to City Meet!

28 City Meet Cuts were earned last night, and the season is just beginning. Based upon how your kids showed up and swam, I'm excited to see how many more we can add. Our congratulations to the following swimmers:

Poquoson Meet Thursday -- please make sure your swimmer(s) are declared for the meet. The sooner I know if your family is going (or not), the faster I can get entries done (and we can send out your swimmer's events, heat & lanes). Please arrive at the show time (not the warm-up time). It takes us awhile to get the smaller/newer kids into their lanes and ready to go. Older swimmers are expected to get to the blocks for their warm-up 5 minutes before we hop in. Thank you!

Home Meets Next Week -- please declare your swimmers as quickly as possible for next week's home meets, so that we can complete the entries and paperwork (and get you warm-up assignments).

As a reminder our home meet schedule is:

4:00pm set up

4:45pm SHOW TIME. All swimmers should be at the pool by 4:45pm. The first warm-up will begin at 5:00pm. The second warm-up group needs to report to the blocks at 5:10, and will begin at 5:15pm.

Team Cheers will follow warm-ups.

At the conclusion of the meet we need everyone to help CLEAN UP. Please make sure all trash is thrown away, umbrellas are lowered, chairs are put back, ropes and poles  away, etc. (we can leave the pool set up for practice, though). The pool deck needs to be clean and orderly when we leave. Thank you!

LASTLY -- Thank you to all of the swimmers who are stepping up and becoming "buddies" to the younger swimmers. This really shows the kind of team spirit that will make the memories these children will carry forward anre remember fondly for the rest of their lives.

Update on the charms! We have started printing them off, cutting them out and getting everything ready to string. Charms for this week are: Intrasquad and the Poquoson Meet charms. Meet attendance earns the charm! Other charms that will make their first appearance for this week are: City Meet Cut Charms, Legal Eagle Charms, and Swimming Beast charms.

Thank you for bearing with us! Have a great day -- see you around the pool tomorrow!
